Do you ever crave a specific food? I do! My number one craving is chips. It must be the salt that I crave but I also think it’s the “crunch” factor.
If you crave something in particular, your body is lacking a vitamin or nutrient so try and find a healthier substitution. I will be sharing more recipes and ideas for healthier options when it comes to cravings.
Here is one of my favorite cravings recipes. It gives me a healthier option but I am still able to satisfy that nagging craving. Homemade guacamole, salsa or hummus are the perfect sides.
Crispy Kale “Chips”
Prep time: 25 minutes
Cooking time: 20 minutes
1 head kale (I prefer the purple), washed thoroughly and dried
2 tablespoons olive oil
Sea salt, sprinkled
Minced garlic or garlic powder, to taste (optional)
Preheat oven to 275 degrees F.
Remove the ribs from the kale and cut into 1-1/2 inch pieces. I prefer to use my Pampered Chef© Salad Chopper to cut up my kale.
Place kale in a large bowl. Toss with olive oil and garlic (if desired). You can add other spices as well. I’ve tried Parmesan cheese, and ground sun dried tomatoes.
Then place in a single layer on a baking sheet. Sprinkle with sea salt. Bake until crisp, turning the leaves halfway through, about 20 minutes.
Place in a large bowl or on a platter and serve with your favorite dip. Yum!
